With summer on the horizon and advertising in overdrive about whether our bodies are beach ready, it is no wonder that demand for non-surgical fat removal is on the rise! demand for such procedures has risen by 43% in 2014.
The rise in demand could be attributed to the emergence of innovative, results driven systems such as 3D-lipo. Backed by endorsements from a host of celebrities such as Towie star Amy Childs, apprentice winner Dr Leah Totton and Sir Alan Sugar himself; this new system promises to deliver a 3-Dimensional alternative to liposuction, with non-surgical technologies targeting fat removal, cellulite reduction and skin tightening.
Founder of 3D-lipo, Royden Cowley, says it is important to develop technology that performs, but the goal for the system was to ensure that the specification for each of these technologies matched or surpassed the best of what was currently available individually.
With promises of inch loss and body contouring what is not to like, but the question on everyone’s lips… does it really work?
BAAPS says: ‘Cosmetic ultrasound technologies evolved from techniques used in destruction of tumours,’ says surgeon Lucian Ion. ‘There is evidence to suggest they also have a viable and measureable effect in cosmetic applications.’ (The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons)
The system combines 4 different technologies, enabling bespoke treatments for clients trying to shift stubborn areas of fat, post-baby weight or redefining the neckline and décolletage.
Cavitation targets localised fat deposits using low frequency ultrasound.  The ultrasound waves create pressure on the fat cell membranes causing them to break down into a liquid state, which the body naturally disperses. Clients can see a 1-3 cm loss after the first treatment alone.
Cryolipolysis uses a fat freezing technique to target the water content of the fat cell. This process causes the fat cells to die and your body responds by removing them of the course of two to four months. Clinical studies have shown that this technique can remove up to 40% of targeted fat cells. There is no doubt that the two techniques combined pack a powerful punch when it comes to battling the bulge!
